“Human Language Engineering: Research and Challenges”

■講演概要（Abstract）

Human language technologies have advanced greatly in recent years due to the increasing demand for more information on the web. In the early days, the internet documents are mainly text in a single language but the number of hybrid multimedia files, consisting of hybrid text and audiovisual components, is now growing exponentially that efficient organization of heterogeneous documents and effective access and presentation of them are becoming critical problems both in research and in practice. In this talk we discuss some of the techniques and methodologies commonly shared by engineering professionals and computational linguists and highlight some of the applications. It is believed that the two communities could learn and benefit from each other to jointly address both technical challenges and business opportunities.
